VilleKart ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: Name, mobile number, email address, and profile photo when you register.
- Delivery address: Your home/work address and saved locations to fulfil orders.
- Order information: Items ordered, payment method used, order history, and delivery preferences.
- Location data: Approximate or precise location (with your permission) to show nearby shops and track delivery.
- Device information: Device model, OS version, app version, and push notification token (for FCM).
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, search queries, and in-app events (via Mixpanel analytics).
- Payment data: We do not store card or UPI credentials. Payments are processed via UPI QR or Cash on Delivery. Transaction references may be stored to match and confirm payments.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To process and deliver your orders.
- To send order confirmations, delivery updates, and promotional notifications (you can opt out anytime).
- To personalise your shopping experience and show relevant products.
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse.
- To improve our app through analytics and crash reporting (Sentry, Mixpanel).
- To comply with applicable Indian laws and regulations.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with:
- Shop owners: Your name, address, and order details are shared with the shop fulfilling your order.
- Delivery partners: Your name, address, and contact number are shared with the delivery person assigned to your order.
- Service providers: Supabase (database & auth), Firebase (push notifications & crash reporting), Mixpanel (analytics), and Cloudflare (hosting & security). These providers process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements.
- Legal authorities: When required by law, court order, or government authority in India.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS) with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement row-level security (RLS) policies so users can only access their own data. We use industry-standard security practices; however, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Order history is retained for 3 years for legal and accounting purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 8).
6. Children's Privacy
VilleKart is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly.
7. Cookies and Tracking
Our website may use cookies for session management and analytics. Our mobile app does not use browser cookies but may use device identifiers for analytics purposes. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.
8. Your Rights
Under applicable Indian data protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the appropriate data protection authority.
